Daughter of Florence and Queen of France, Catherine de Medici was undoubtedly the most powerful and controversial woman in Europe during the 16th century. A great believer in the power of artistic display to manifest her influence, she held sway over France for many tumultuous decades. Early music ensemble the Toronto Consort presents Catherine’s musical legacy, with music by Adrian LeRoy, Claude LeJeune and Guillaume Costely, and period dance performed by the School of Atelier Ballet.
