SYMPHONIE FANTASTIQUE
A pair of vibrant works by the super-romantic French composer Hector Berlioz gives the season a dazzling launch! Sir Andrew Davis conducts not only his masterpiece—the gripping and highly imaginative Symphonie fantastique—but also a scintillating selection from its sequel, Lélio, in which he paid homage to his literary hero, William Shakespeare. An intriguing “concerto for orchestra” by the distinguished Québécois composer Jacques Hétu, commissioned by the TSO and premièred in 2006, completes the program. (Pictured: Sir Andrew Davis)
