Montreal, November 9th, 2021 – The Orchestre Classique de Montréal (OCM) presents a concert of repertoire reflecting various Tales and Melodies on November 23, 2021, at 7:30 p.m., at Salle Pierre-Mercure. Presented by Harriet and Marvin Corber, this concert will be available in person as well as via webcast for two weeks following the live broadcast.
The program will open with Mohawk violinist Tara-Louise Montour in a work that was commissioned by her, Farewell to the Warriors by composer Régent Levasseur. The musical tale will continue with mezzo-soprano Julie Boulianne, who will perform Ravel’s Shéhérazade in a special arrangement by OCM’s resident arranger François Vallières. The orchestra will also perform Ravel’s Petite symphonie à cordes in an arrangement by Rudolph Barshai. Julie Boulianne and pianist Jean-Philippe Sylvestre will close the evening with Ravel’s Five Greek Folk Songs.
Each concert of the OCM’s 82nd season, entitled Women of Distinction, honours a great woman from outside the music world who has left her mark on the community. The evening will begin with a tribute to renowned Innu poet Josephine Bacon, delivered by OCM board member Nadir André, a member of the Matimekush-Lac John First Nation.
“OCM is immensely proud to present works by Indigenous composers each year,” says Nadir André. “And at this concert, we are honouring an Indigenous woman who is highly respected by her entire community. This is our way of promoting Indigenous artists,” he says.

About the OCM
The Orchestre Classique de Montréal (OCM) was founded in 1939 by violinist, conductor, and composer Alexander Brott and cellist and manager Lotte Brott. Previously named the McGill Chamber Orchestra, the OCM quickly became one of Canada’s most established chamber orchestras, touring five continents, recording extensively, and appearing regularly on radio and television.
